The Anstruther Fish Bar & Restaurant Menu

Fish n ChipsYou will notice we do not offer our customers seafood that has been imported from half way around the world.

Why? - We pay meticulous attention to our supply chain, with a tight ethical purchasing code and actively support small, local suppliers who share our passion for sustainable seafood and are constantly seeking out lower impact methods for sourcing fish, such as farming.

By reducing the food miles used to provide our customers with quality fresh seafood, we are effectively taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet.

What are food miles?

Put simply, food miles are the measure of the distance a food travels from net or field to plate.

This travel adds substantially to the carbon dioxide emissions that are contributing to climate change, which is why food miles matter.

Here at Anstruther Fish Bar, we are proud to continue to offer our customers locally sourced produce.

Mackerel ~ freshly ‘line-caught’ in the Firth of Forth by our own family on rare days off work!!

Smoked Haddock ~ we lightly smoke prime fresh haddock fillets at our own smokehouse, Argofish in St Monans.

Prawns ~ caught and landed by local fishermen at nearby fish market in Pittenweem.

Lobster & Crab ~ directly from the creels of our local fishermen who land their daily catch right here at Anstruther harbour.

Potatoes ~ grown exclusively for us by potato farmer Kenneth Traynor on his farm by the banks of the Firth of Forth.

Veniburgers ~ an exceptional wheat-free burger made with prime venison from Reediehill Farm, Auchtermuchty, Fife.

Eggs ~ Fresh free-range eggs from Donald Peddie at Kingsbarns

Rolls ~ made and delivered by local bakery, G Barnett

Dairy ~ we only use the finest Scottish milk, cream and cheese supplied by local dairy R Wiseman & Sons based in Cupar, Fife.

Wine ~ yes, even our wine is local!! Scottish winery, cairn O Mohr is situated on the banks of the River Tay - they supply us with some delicious wines, some made with berries grown right here in Fife!

As a traditional Scottish fish and chip shop/restaurant we also offer a vast range of meat products sourced locally from quality independent suppliers who we believe to be 'simply the best'. Puddings, prime Scottish haggis, sausage and steak pies are obtained from our supplier of 25 years (John Dow of Dundee) providing an even greater choice for our customers.
